This seminar highlights the contribution of LGBT families with children to advancing wider issues of the LGBT movement such as equality. Change in public opinion and public support of LGBT unions and combating homophobia is occurring at a fast rate in societies across Western Europe.  This  workshop  looks at how LGBT families raising children are arguably a powerful instrument in changing society, for example through their visibility, through the process of coming out on a daily basis and as the creator of “allies” within their circles of activity: health providers, school and wider family network which will in turn advocate for wider equality. The focus is on the contribution of LGBT families with children to a modern understanding of family, what constitutes a family and the dynamics within roles in the idea of the conventional family.   Finally, the workshop looks at the achievements of LGBT families across Europe in the last decade, the challenges and the wish list for an Equal Europe for LGBT families.

 I am writing to ask you for  your feedback.

I would like for example to know of  anecdotes  from members in your own organizations especially in relation to visibility.

 I have access to the  mailing list of the Italian rainbow families Association, and I will be using some of the examples to illustrate how LGBT families have forged alliances within the  wider community.

 but I would also like to be able to show and  tell about experiences in other countries. Therefore, I would be really grateful if you could translate into the language of your organization this email and circulate it and also encourage your members to come up with stories and material that may help me in preparing this seminar.
