LGBT Families: “THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT”!
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL FAMILIES
LGBTIQ* families (defined as families where at least one parent self-identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer) live all over the world. As diverse as the societal and political situation may be, recognition and equal rights are a basic necessity for all families. This annual report introduces the organisations involved in the International Family Equality Day as well as the work done by the IFED Committee and highlights the activities that were held in the different countries to celebrate this day. It also aims to serve as an inspiration for the fifth IFED, which will take place 1 May 2016 and for LGBTIQ* parents, LGBTIQ* activists and other interested parties to get involved in the struggle for equality and recognition for rainbow families the world over.
HOW TO STRENGTHEN LGBTIQ* FAMILIES
The IFED Annual Report 2015 will be used as a practical tool to address lobbying strategies and as a means to strengthen the visibility of rainbow families around the world. It can be used to forge alliances with other family organisations as well as with policymakers and the authorities towards the goal of recognition for all families. The collective solidarity should be strengthened in collaboration with different family forms because together, we are strong.International Family Equality Day (IFED) in the European Parliament in Brussels. This was the first time IFED was celebrated in the European Parliament. The event was made possible with the support of the Intergroup on LGBT Rights of the European Parliament.
WHERE YOUR DONATION WILL GO
We will use your donation for the cost of printing the IFED Annual Report 2015 to enable us to hand it over personally to authorities, experts, LGBT activists, human rights experts and politicians in the course of our advocacy work. In the picture below we had the opportunity to hand the IFED Annual Report 2014 to Yooomi Rënstrom, Current Affairs Committee (Council of Europe) and the U.S. Department of State’s first-ever Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBT Persons, Mr. Randy W. Berry, personally.
IFED Annual Report 2015
We look forward to sharing the IFED Annual Report 2015. It will allow us to forge alliances with representatives from public services, institutions and politics in our struggle for recognition of all families. This year the IFED was celebrated in 67 Towns in 32 Countries worldwide.
WHAT WE WILL ACHIEVE
Through visibility and the promotion of research on same-sex families we will be able to break down prejudices and at the same time strengthen and empower families, authorities, politicians and experts.
Thank you so much for your help.
Yours cordially,
The International Family Equality Day (IFED) Network

International Family Equality Day 3 May 2015 “THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT”
In 2015, the IFED was celebrated in 67 cities in 32 countries worldwide.
Regardless of the different legal, political and social circumstances around the world, the large increase in the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) people choosing to raise children is a global phenomenon. The International Family Equality Day (IFED) was launched as a sign of solidarity and strength, to promote equality for all families. For the first time, on 6 May 2012, several events were held simultaneously throughout Australia, Europe, Canada, Japan and the US. Families, friends, interested parties, experts from government agencies and other institutions as well as politicians and representatives of all political parties were invited to celebrate the rainbow of families around the world. This annual report introduces the organizations involved in IFED as well as the work done by the IFED Committee. The report highlights the activities held in different countries to celebrate IFED 2015. It also serves as an inspiration for the fifth International Family Equality Day, which will take place on 1 May 2016.
