Kivi & Monsterhund

Kivi & Monsterhund
by Jesper Lundqvist
illus. by Bettina Johansson
Language: Swedish
Linköping : Olika, 2012.
[29] sider : ill. i farver
ISBN: 9789185845767 ; 9185845760
(Devin Lind from Goodreads).

Gabrielle's Gift

Gabrielle's Gift
by Lerone Landis
illus. by Bill Young
Language: English
Lerone Landis, 2014.
34 p. : col. ill. ; cm.
ISBN: 0692333967 ; 9780692333969
Summary: The premise of Gabrielle's Gift is a simple one - a child's wish for a very special birthday gift. It is a gift that that nearly every kid will ask for at some point in their childhood, the gift of a pet! This everyday typical scenario is coupled with an atypical family dynamic in which Gabrielle's parents are two dads. The unique family is never explicitly mentioned. The visuals speak for themselves and the common story make it relatable to absolutely any and all kids, regardless of their family make up. Gabrielle's Gift is a fun, short, and to the point story. The message that beauty comes in all different colors and forms is not an overbearing one, just an additional one. Yet it is represented as a metaphor through the eyes of a pet and Gabrielle's family.

My Chacha is gay

My Chacha is gay
written and illus. by Nice Mangos
Language: English
Summary: This children's book is set in Pakistan and deals with the issue of homophobia. With all the religious intolerance and extremism in Pakistan its important to push back with the arts and with education. The best way to do this is to start early and teach our children tolerance and diversity from a young age. The book also aims to show the rest of the world that *all* Pakistanis cannot be defined by the terrorism and intolerance you see in the media. We are a varied people, amongst us there are many kind, gentle and diversity loving souls. But sadly, those voices are drowned out or silenced by extremists.

Uruguay : Criatura editora, 2011
44 p. : col. ill. ; cm.
ISBN: 9789974831346
